Introduced in the early 1980s, this variety quickly became the Canadian - and then the international - gold-standard for quality in high-enzyme, two-row malting barley. Nutritious, delicious, and easy to cultivate, barley is a common sweet grain with loads of health benefits and a variety of purposes. Barleys tolerate cooler conditions than wheat and mature earlier. We harvest our barleys in late June or early July. They can be overwintered in many places or sown as soon as the soil is workable in the new year.
